Abhyangam is an ancient Ayurvedic therapy that involves a full-body massage with warm herbal oils, with origins tracing back over 5,000 years in India. This practice aims to balance the three doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—and enhance overall health and wellness. As a key component of daily self-care in Ayurveda, Abhyangam is believed to support good health and help prevent illness. At Dr Gupta’s Holistic Wellness Center
in Hyderabad, our skilled practitioners are trained in traditional Abhyangam techniques and offer personalized sessions designed to address each individual’s unique needs.
1. Oil Selection: The appropriate oil is selected according to the individual’s body type, health status, and specific needs.
2. Massage: The massage is performed using a gentle, rhythmic technique, with oil applied to the entire body, including the feet. This process generally lasts about 30-35 minutes.
3. Steam bath: After the massage, the patient is advised to take a steam bath to help the skin absorb the oil and cleanse it thoroughly.
4. Warm water bath: Following the steam bath, the patient is recommended to take a warm water bath to remove any remaining oil from the skin.
5. Rest: A brief period of rest is advised after the massage to enable the body to fully absorb the benefits of the treatment.
It’s important to note that the procedure may be adjusted based on each individual’s specific needs and preferences, and it’s essential to follow the guidance of a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner.
