Potli massages utilize a traditional approach rooted in the harmonization of the elements of fire and water, along with a blend of specific herbs. By applying heated potlis to the body, the pores open up, relaxing the muscles and allowing the herbs to effectively soothe both the body and mind. This method is well-known for its ability to promote relaxation.
Preparation of the Potli: A potli is a cloth pouch filled with a blend of herbs and natural ingredients tailored to the individual’s needs. The pouch is heated in oil or medicated milk before use.
Preparation of the Client: The client lies down on a massage table, and the therapist performs a gentle massage with warm oil to relax the muscles.
Application of the Potli: The heated potli is applied to the body using gentle pressure and circular motions. The therapist may also tap the potli on specific points to release tension.
Massage with Potli: The therapist massages the entire body, including the back, arms, legs, and neck, using the potli. The heat from the potli helps open pores and allows the herbal ingredients to penetrate the skin.
Steam Bath: Follow the massage with a steam bath for deeper relaxation and detoxification.
Relaxation: After the massage, the client rests for a few minutes to let the body absorb the herbs and fully relax.
Shower: The client can then take a warm shower to cleanse any residual oil or herbal paste from the skin.
Drink Water: It is recommended to drink warm water or herbal tea after the session to support the elimination of toxins from the body.
